Course Outline

This course (5th semester, 5 ECTS) focuses on the study of institutions, policies, and factors affecting economic development at an international level. Differences between developed and developing countries, the role of international organizations (World Bank, OECD, UN), the importance of institutional quality, governance, investments, and sustainable development are examined. The course also analyzes the effects of global crises and challenges on development. Students will be able to understand basic development theories, analyze the role of institutions, interpret development policies, and evaluate the effectiveness of international organizations. Assessment includes a written final exam (70%) with multiple-choice and short-answer questions, and a written assignment with mandatory presentation (30%). The course is taught in Greek, with availability in English for Erasmus students.
