Ioannis Dokas is aProfessor at the Department of Economics of the Democritus University of Thrace, specializing in Accounting. He was born in Agrinio in November 1977 and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2000) and a Ph.D. in Financial Accounting from Panteion University (2007). His doctoral research was conducted under the framework of the Heraclitus scholarship program. Dr. Dokas has previously taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the Department of Economics of the University of Athens, as well as postgraduate programs at the Open University of Cyprus and the Piraeus University of Applied Sciences. He has also served as an instructor at the National School of Local Government. Since 2011, he has been teaching voluntarily at the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program of the National Technical University of Athens titled “Mathematical Modeling in Modern Technologies and Finance”, offering the courses Financial Analysis and Special Topics in Financial Analysis. Since 2012, he has also served as an academic tutor at the Hellenic Open University’s postgraduate program in Banking. His research has been published in esteemed international peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of the Operational Research Society, Research in International Business and Finance, Applied Economics, Operational Research: An International Journal, International Journal of Financial Research, International Journal of Business Administration, and International Journal of Corporate Finance and Accounting. He also acts as a reviewer for several internationally recognized academic journals. Dr. Dokas’s research interests primarily concern the assessment of the efficiency of economic entities through the use of published accounting information, with a particular focus on the effectiveness of their financial management and the development of models for failure prediction.
