The objectives and means of the Department’s Quality Policy, take into account the principles of the Hellenic Quality Assurance and Accreditation Agency (HQA), the teaching and research targets of DUTH, the conclusions of departmental committees and the European and international policies concerning higher education. The Department’s Quality Assurance Policy is continuously improved with the active involvement of all members of the Department (academic staff, students, and administrative staff). The department implements evaluation procedures for all its procedures and takes into account best practices from other economic and business departments in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
The primary concern of the Department of Economics is to provide high quality studies and academic/research excellence. The members of the academic staff provide up-to-date scientific knowledge, develop case studies to support lectures, and apply new methodologies in all issue areas of economics and business. Mentoring is also taking place systematically through the practice of “Student Advisor”. In addition, faculty members target specific learning outcomes and skills, according to the standards of the European and National Higher Education Qualifications Framework.
Students follow courses, seminars and workshops, evaluate faculty members each semester, and contribute to the improvement of academic activities. Finally, the department cooperates with all existing structures of DUTH services such as the Internship Office, the Employment and Career office (https://dasta.duth.gr/), the
Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit (http://epixeireite.duth.gr/), the Erasmus office, the Training and Lifelong Learning Center.
