This course (8th semester, 5 ECTS) aims at understanding regional economic development, highlighting characteristics of effective regional policies. It analyzes the concept of regional development, determinants of regional economic policy, and connects the multidimensional regional problem with policies for its resolution under modern globalization restructuring conditions. It covers topics such as economic science and development theory, economic history, poverty and inequality, regional/local development, entrepreneurship and innovation, regional development strategies, globalization, as well as EU regional policy. Assessment includes written exams and an optional assignment. The course is taught in Greek and offered to Erasmus students.
