Maria Sartzethaki is an Associate Professor of Management (Business Administration) at the Department of Economics of the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH), Greece. She holds a Ph.D. from the same Department, two Master of Science (MSc) degrees—one from Cranfield University (UK) and another from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece)—as well as an Integrated Master’s degree (Diploma) in Civil Engineering from DUTH. She teaches in undergraduate and postgraduate programs at DUTH and has also contributed to postgraduate programs at the Hellenic Open University, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and Neapolis University Pafos (Cyprus). Her academic and professional activity spans the fields of business administration, strategic management, project management, and corporate governance, with practical applications in both public and private sector enterpsises and organizations. Her professional career includes executive and managerial support roles, the provision of high-level consulting services, and involvement in the preparation and execution of specialized studies and projects for various enterprises and organizations. Her published work includes peer-reviewed articles in international journals, presentations at academic conferences, and participation in collaborative research initiatives. She has contributed in nationally and internationally funded research projects and has been invited to present her work at foreign universities and organizations. As part of her research engagement, she has collaborated with institutions in both Greece and abroad on topics aligned with her specialization, while also supporting policy-relevant work in international bodies and forums. She was awarded a research fellowship by the European COST/ATARD initiative for scientific activities and invited lectures at Hochschule Worms (Germany). She is a member of the Economic Chamber of Greece, the Technical Chamber of Greece, and several professional and scientific associations and networks related to management, economics, and strategic planning in both Greece and internationally. In 2019, following an international open competition, she received the “Professional Achievement Award” by the British Council, under the Study UK Alumni Awards program, which honors alumni of UK education for their professional achievements.
